Healing Ecological Narcissism
The deteriorating condition of our beautiful planet is deplorable. With the escalation of habitat encroachment, deforestation, pollution and general exploitation, the future is looking grim. It would appear we are an ecologically narcissistic race to the detriment of everything around us.
Can this be healed?
With us this hour to explore the concept of Ecological Narcissism and possible solutions is Jeanine M. Canty, Ph.D. Jeanine is a professor of transformative studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, telecommuting from Boulder, CO. Formerly the chair of environmental studies at Naropa University, she continues to guest teach at Naropa and as well as at Pacifica Graduate Institute’s
Eco-psychology certificate program. A lover of nature, justice, and contemplative practice, her teaching intersects issues of social and ecological justice, eco-psychology, and the process of worldview expansion and change. She is author of numerous books, her latest: “Returning the Self to Nature: Undoing Our Collective Narcissism and Healing Our Planet.”
