Beyond the Physical:
What Doctors See But Don’t Tell
~ Gwilda Wiyaka ~
Medical doctors are trained to focus on the physical
world – the provable and explainable – in order to diagnose and treat physical
illness. Yet these gallant individuals spend most of their careers dancing the
line between life and death with their patients.
What have they experienced regarding the nonphysical
aspects of life and death that they may not discuss in the professional world
for fear of losing credibility? What more can be learned about the nature of
life if they were to share their more mysterious experiences? How will the face
of health care evolve if the non-physical aspects of life are factored in?
With us this hour to explore the mysterious
experiences many doctors have is Dr. Scott Kolbaba, author of “Physicians’
Untold Stories.” Dr. Kolbaba is an internist in
private practice in Wheaton, Illinois. He graduated from the University of
Illinois College of Medicine with honors and did his residency at Rush
Presbyterian-Saint Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, and at the Mayo Clinic in
Rochester, Minnesota. He has been awarded membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha
Honor Medical Society and has been featured in Chicago magazine as a “Top
Doctor” in internal medicine.
