The Evolutionary Potential of the Human Brain

The Evolutionary Potential of the Human Brain

~ Gwilda Wiyaka ~

For all our copious experimentation, tests and studies on the human brain, we really don’t have a handle on what it is, how it works, what it’s hooked up to or, for that matter, where it resides. We used to think it was only in the cranium. Now there is evidence it is also in the heart, gut, and spinal cord. It has been viewed as a processer and storage unit – the residence of a person’s mind. But now there is talk of it being connected to the collective consciousness, as well as that of the individual in which it resides.

Are there keys to the evolution of humankind hidden in the unknown recesses of the brain? What does it connect to? What is its role in spirituality and unity?

With us this hour to take a deeper look into the human brain is Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. Dr Taylor is a Harvard trained and published neuroanatomist. In 1996, she experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain, causing her to lose the ability to walk, talk, read, write or recall any of her life. Her memoir, “My Stroke of Insight,” documenting her experience with stroke and eight-year recovery, spent 63 weeks on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list, and is still routinely the #1 book about stroke on Amazon. Her new book, “WHOLE BRAIN LIVING: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life,” is now available.
