The Fear That Binds
You
~ Gwilda Wiyaka ~
Fear has many faces, not all of them bad. It is a
natural response to danger designed to keep us safe and insure the continuation
of the species. However, over the years, unprocessed trauma and deeply held
fear has also created many problems that threaten the very longevity it was designed
to preserve.
Science is just discovering the far-reaching negative
effects of unprocessed fear. Fear can block joy, inter-connectedness, intuition,
love, and health. Fear can be very complex, impacting us on all four levels;
physical, emotional, mental and spiritual and thus needs to be addressed on all
four levels as well.
When and why did fear become so problematic? Why do we
store trauma to our detriment? Does fear compromise our well-being in hidden
ways? Is it possible to turn this around? If so how?
With us this hour to delve into the shadow side of
fear is Dr. Carla Marie Manly the author of “JOY from Fear Create the Life of
Your Dreams by Making Fear Your Friend.” Carla is a clinical psychologist in
private practice. Using a holistic,
mind-body-spirit approach, Dr. Manly works with individuals and groups,
focusing on transformational growth and healing. She is a leading authority in
the area of fear-based disorders, including; trauma, anxiety and depression.
