Evolving Through the
Marriage of Spirit and Activism
~ Gwilda Wiyaka ~
During the last twenty or so years, there has been
much time, effort and study spent on spirituality and personal growth.
Libraries and book stores (both brick and mortar and online) continue to be
filled with self-help books, with more being published daily.
Yet we are experiencing unprecedented ecological, economic
and cultural crises. From oceans of plastic, air pollution, and deteriorating
ozone layer, to climate change, melting ice caps and the threat of nuclear war,
our very existence is being threatened on a global scale.
It would appear that sitting around meditating and contemplating
our navel is not enough to solve the massive challenges we face.
Quite frankly, we are rapidly running out of time.
I don’t know about you but I’m open to
suggestions on how to move forward.
Hopefully our guest this hour can offer some viable options.
With us is TERRY PATTEN. Terry speaks and consults internationally as a
community organizer, philosopher, and teacher. Over the last fifteen years, he
has devoted his efforts to the integral project of evolving consciousness
through practice, and facing, examining, and healing our global crises through
the marriage of spirit and activism.
Patten is also a social entrepreneur involved in
supporting restorative redwood forestry, innovating new technological
alternatives to fossil fuels, and creating new currencies for a sustainable
economy. Most recently, he is the author of “A New Republic of the Heart: An
Ethos for Revolutionaries.”
